Chores for kids

I'm often faced with a surprised look when I say my child contributes to the chores at home, and I'm often asked what chores my child does - and the answer is really quite simple really. Anything she's capable of, which can include:
- The weekly washing (wash, hang, fold, sort, put away)
- The floors (vacuum and mop)
- The dishes
- Cleaning in general
- Watering the plants
- Cooking
We're pretty lucky. We've got a good kid, as we're always told, but she's been helping around the house happily since she could walk, and it often makes me think, discipline is really healthy for kids.
She has no pocket money system - instead she knows that her extra curricular activities only come when she contributes.
This conversation with other parents has led to other kids helping around the house and doing chores.
I've searched the internet to find some pros and cons of kids doing chores, and not surprisingly, it's pretty positive:
"Assigning chores to kids can have many benefits, such as:
Building Responsibility: Chores can help children learn responsibility and develop a sense of ownership over their environment. When kids are given specific tasks to complete, they learn to take ownership of those tasks and to follow through on them.
Developing Life Skills: Chores can teach kids important life skills, such as cooking, cleaning, and organizing. These skills can help them become more independent and self-sufficient later in life.
Promoting Self-Esteem: When children complete tasks and contribute to the household, they feel a sense of accomplishment and pride. This can boost their self-esteem and give them a sense of purpose.
Teaching Time Management: By assigning specific chores with deadlines, children can learn time management skills and develop a better understanding of how to prioritize their responsibilities.
Fostering Teamwork: When children work together with siblings or other family members to complete chores, they learn how to work as a team and how to communicate effectively.
Overall, assigning chores to kids can help them develop important life skills, build responsibility, and contribute to the family unit."
Do your kids do chores?
If not - why not?
